Team Leader
A Team Leader is an individual or family with a low-income who is interested in becoming self-sufficient and meeting their needs on a daily basis. After completion of the Getting Ahead Course, Team Leader’s choice to participate in the THRIVE Community means that they have made a major decision to transform their life and the lives of their family. It means that they are willing to do whatever it takes to move from living paycheck-to-paycheck, month-to-month, to a place where they have enough money, meaning and relationships in their lives to feel secure. A Team Leader is willing to share their strengths and gifts with others who are working toward the same goal. THRIVE Allies
THRIVE Allies are volunteers who form a supportive friendship with a Team Leader. Allies work with the Leader to figure out how to accomplish his or her plan, offering help in areas in which they are familiar; whether it's financial, educational, or social/community connections. Allies create goals for themselves as well, which Team Leaders can help them with – establishing reciprocity. Structure of the Weekly Meetings
THRIVE meets at East Heights United Methodist Church, 4407 E. Douglas in Wichita, KS. Community meetings begin at 5:45 on Tuesday evenings with a community dinner for all THRIVE participants, volunteers, and their children. Then at 6:30, children will go to structured youth programming and the adults will begin the work of charting and monitoring their course forward. Getting Ahead participants will move to room 150 for class. Our evenings end around 7:30 so families with young children can get home for bedtime. We rotate between education nights and matched team nights- ensuring that our Ally/Leader teams have time to work on goals consistently and that we are learning what is needed to grow on the path. Once a quarter (5th Tuesday) we split up our Allies and Leaders. We ensure we are meeting the educational needs of our Leaders by asking them to outline what topics they wan to learn more about. Our Allies meet together for training, encouragement or also to give advice on learning opportunities. Our Partners and Friends

WELCOME TO THRIVE
"Our vision is to inspire and equip families and communities to thrive and end poverty. THRIVE is a community driven solution to addressing the underlying causes of poverty and supporting families in a holistic, long term pathway to economic stability."
What is a THRIVE Community?
A THRIVE Community is a 501C3 organization operating in the state of Kansas. We recognize that people in poverty need to be in charge of their own lives. In this model they are known as Team Leaders, and over the course of their involvement in the THRIVE Community, each Leader takes an increasingly active role in leading their Team and giving back to the community. A THRIVE Team is an intentional, supportive friendship, made up of one Team Leader who is a person living in poverty and two or more THRIVE Allies who are volunteers willing to build supportive relationships that help people achieve their goals. Allies join Team Leaders in advocating for removing community barriers for people who are working to move out of poverty.
